Stamp Duty Fee

The stamp duty is a 4% of annual rent. In Uttar Pradesh, stamp duty on rental property is calculated based on the lease agreement’s total value. Let’s say you have a rental agreement for a shop space with an annual rent of ₹1,20,000. If the lease period is less than 5 years, the stamp duty would be 3% of three times the annual rent. So, for a lease period of 3 years:

Annual Rent: ₹1,20,000 Total Rent for 3 Years: ₹1,20,000 x 3 = ₹3,60,000 Stamp Duty: 3% of ₹3,60,000 = ₹10,800

If the lease period is 5 to 10 years, the stamp duty would be 4% of four times the annual rent. For example, if the lease is for 7 years:

Annual Rent: ₹1,20,000 Total Rent for 7 Years: ₹1,20,000 x 7 = ₹8,40,000 Stamp Duty: 4% of ₹8,40,000 = ₹33,600
